Block Practical Quantum Computing

Wintersemester 2025/26

This course will be held in english.

This course will be offered as a block lecture ('Blockpraktikum').

© Bluefors Quantum Computer at LRZ

The practical course builds on the lecture Introduction to Quantum Computing and is organized with LRZ and DLR. The topic of the practical course is simulation of quantum circuits. You are going to learn different methods to classically simulate quantum circuits. Based on those you are going to implement and optimize your own simulator in groups of two.

Organization

  • Time: Tuesday, 16.09.2025 to Thursday, 25.09.2025, 09.00 to 17.00
  • Place: Leibniz Supercomputing Center (LRZ)

Important: Attendance is compulsory during the block practical and punctuality is expected. Failure to attend will be reported to the examination office with a grade of 5.0 (failed). Being late multiple times will have a negative effect on your grade.

Exam

At the end of the practical course, you and your team will give a presentation on your solution to the problem posed in the practical course.

It takes place on September 29th between 13.30 and 17.00.

The exam lasts about 20 minutes in total. At the beginning, you will give a 10-minute presentation as a team about your solution and then answer questions about your solution and the content of the practical course. Please note that attendance during all presentations is mandatory for every group.
