Personal prerequisites

A person choosing to study Informatics should be interested in both  mathematical, formal ways of thinking and application-oriented, practical working methods. The ability to work in a team is an important requirement for a successful working life. Knowledge of the english language is indespensible already during the education. Further technical knowledge, in particular of programming, is not required.

Formal prerequisites

The first formal prerequisitze for admission to a university program is the higher education entrance qualification. At LMU Munich there are additional prerequisites for admission into some degree programs:

The admission for the Informatics B.Sc. program and for the Bioinformatics programs requires the passing of an aptitude test, the so-called Eignungsfeststellungsverfahren, which is conducted once every year in the summer for admission in the following winter term.  More details on these aptitude tests can be found here:

Prospective students can test their own aptitude for the Informatics program by use of these old tests!

Numerus Clausus

Admission to the Media Informatics program is restricted and requires an application application at the universities central admission offices.

For the teachers' program there are no further admission prerequisites.
