Project Competence Multimedia
Module: P 15.2
Contents: A practical piece of work for real problems in the development of media systems or in media design is carried out. The problem can be given by the university or from an external enterprise (kooperative internship).
Educational objectives: An understanding for the constraints and problems of practical project work shall be developed. Besides that, techniques shall be learned how to quickly get familiar with current technologies of media informatics beyond those taught in the curriculum.
Bachelor thesis
Module: P 19.1
Contents: A written paper has to be produced which covers a complex and individually assigned topic of Media Informatics. The topic shall contain a practical part, the results of which are documented. Moreover, the topic shall provide sufficient room for a systematic exploration of solution alternatives.
Educational objectives: The presentation technique of a written paper shall be practised and demonstrated. The students shall be enables to discuss alternative solutions for a complex problem in comparison and to find and describe a systematic approach to its solution. Adequate working with scientific literature shall be practiced further and finally demonstrated.
Bachelor examination
Module: P 19.2
Contents: In an oral presentation with following discussion, the contents of the Bachelor thesis are presented and discussed scientifically.
Educational objectives: The presentation technique of an oral presentation shall be practised and demonstrated. The student shall be enabled to present a complex topic in an accessible way for a broader audience and to defend his or her position in a thorough scientific discussion of the contents of the presentation.

Module: WP 1.1
Contents: In the general meeting, the necessary software development techniques and methods are presented. This includes e.g. programming with software libraries, graphics programming, selected aspects of object oriented analysis and design, introduction to client server programming, and use of software management tools. Moreover, actual problems, questions and difficulties during software development are discussed.
Educational objectives: The purpose of this event is to discuss solutions of actual problems during the software development.

Contents: Teams of four to five students work on a complex software development problem. A focus of training is to get experience in team-oriented software development using appropriate tools and methods.
